Over the years I have gained a lot of teaching experience throughout the community of Madrid as a language assistant, working in academies, and giving private English classes. It has been very enriching and rewarding because as you teach you learn to continue to expand your ideas to make learning more fun and interesting. I find that using the three learning styles of visual, audio, and kinesthetic to be very helpful especially for young learners. A few years ago my 2nd of ESO students inspired me to write a song using the irregular verbs in the past. From this experience I now have an interest in getting students to write poems or songs related to whatever they are learning in English class.

I believe giving that freedom to express themselves in the language they are learning broadens their minds and increases their creativity. In another school where I taught, I discovered that teaching though imagination is an absolutely wonderful activity for young learners to increase their listening, speaking, and writing abilities most especially at the primary levels but could of course certainly be applied to secondary with more age-appropriate topics. At a few other schools that I worked at I was able to use my theatre experience and apply it to teaching. The Meisner acting technique is very useful for students learning the different ways to answer yes, and no in english (ie Yes, I was. No you weren’t) and also, for improvisation for the more advanced level.Thank for your attention to this letter and for reviewing my credentials.

I am an English teacher, fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, with experience in teaching students of different ages and nationalities.

In 2014, I completed the CELTA course in order to better myself as a teacher and have an extra English teaching qualification. I have dedicated my life as a student to the English language and culture (I was a student at the British Council Institute for several years and took three Cambridge exams), I lived in England for almost 4 years and taught there for over a year.

My professional experience has been acquired in the performance as an English teacher at various language institutes, schools and private students in Portugal and England.

I believe my University studies in languages have given me an understanding of the Spanish language as well as the English language allowing me to anticipate the learning challenges of my students. I also believe that my previous experience in language institutes, such as Helen Doron English, have prepared me for any teaching role due to having had to to teach students from the age of 3 months to adult age.

After living in Madrid in the past, I am moving back to the city and am really excited to go back to teaching. I will be available full time from January 2017.

My name is Paul Lang and I am applying for the Teacher of English, History, or Head of Department/Key Stage. I am a teacher with 16 years classroom experience. I have GCSE, A-Level, IGCSE, MYP and IBDP experience and am familiar with all the exams and their formats. I have my Qualified Teacher Status issued from the UK. I have a Spanish partner and can speak some Spanish beyond the rudimentary level. Before my current position here in Albania, I taught CIE IGCSE and A-Level English Language and English Literature with excellent results. Because of this experience, I feel as though I would be an excellent fit for your school.

At The International School of Madrid, I was the Second in Department for English. During this time, we had some of the best results in school history. We continually helped students achieve passing grades in both English Language and English Literature when these students struggled to pass any of their other courses. I would like to think it was all me, but I know that the atmosphere of the British School System and our English department team worked hard each and every year in order to help prepare the students to achieve their potential. Our planning was strong, we reviewed our curriculum regularly, and we pushed ourselves as a team in order to help each student experience success.

I also organised theatre trips to London and helped organise events at the school. I acted as an advisor to students who considered going to North America for university. I provided tutoring sessions for struggling students and organised exam help classes during school vacations. I was always amenable to the needs of both the school and the students.

I am currently the Middle School Program Coordinator here in Albania. It is my job to ensure that all departments are working together to align their curricula so that it meets the needs of the students and the standards of our curriculum provider. I also act as a mentor for younger teachers, coordinate pastoral care for students, and write school policy. I also meet with parents when issues occur in the high school. Because of this, and because of my previous experience in British schools, I believe that I would make an excellent candidate for Head of Department.
