Is there a lack of native English-speaking teachers in Spain?
Due to poor results in English over the years, more and more schools are opting to teach school subjects in English. In general, schools haven’t got personnel with a sufficient level of English to teach them. Native English teachers are NEEDED!!!
In which schools could I work?
Qualified Infant, Primary and Secondary school teachers can work in Spain in the private and semi- private sector. The legal requirement to teach in an Infant, Primary and Secondary Spanish school is the previous validation of your qualifications.
The validating qualifications process takes from six months to a year, but schools are permitted to employ teachers who are in the process of validating their papers. Read more about the validation qualifications process.
You can also work in language schools, individual course academies or other kinds of academies.
To work in public schools it is necessary to approve a public examination and a language test.
Do I need to speak Spanish to teach in a school?
It would be interesting a low spanish level as a minimum, but it is not necessary. In fact, probably you will not use Spanish in the classes. Students get lazy if they know they can fall back on it and teachers lose creativity and imagination.
